Lets say your assignment is to read one chapter. First, get an idea of what the chapter is about by reveuing the highlights

.read the tittle, headings and subheadings

. look at charts, graphs, pictures, maps, and other visual materials

. read captions

. read the very beginning and the end of the chapter
